There are numerous zeolite supplements on the market, and choosing one may become an overwhelming and confusing task. In order to help simplify your concerns and worries about choosing the best zeolite supplement, I have composed a list of what defines a good zeolite supplement. Make sure that whatever zeolite health supplement you may choose meets the standards outlined in this article.
** Remember, these standards are NOT required of zeolite health supplement companies, so please make them standards for yourself! **
Pure Clinoptilolite
Only one type of zeolite that should be used in any zeolite supplement—clinoptilolite. There are only two types of zeolite that are non-toxic to humans, clinoptilolite and mordenite. Yet, the structure of mordenite is jagged and could be potentially dangerous to the tissues of your digestive system, and so should never be consumed. Some supplement companies have advertised that they use more than one type of zeolite, implying that more zeolites are better for detoxing. But this isn’t true! Clinoptilolite will do the same exact detoxing job as mordenite, and it have a safe rounded structure, which poses no threat to causing any bodily injury. Chabazite is another zeolite that is used in some company’s products- this is very dangerous! It has been shown to heat to the boiling point as soon as it comes in contact with water. Ingesting chabazite could cause internal damage. So the only zeolite that is needed in any zeolite health supplement is clinoptilolite. It’s safe to ingest and gets the detoxing done.
Purity of the Zeolite
Purity and potency are directly related. A high purity level is essential for any zeolite supplement to be effective. Zeolite is a natural mineral, and is mined from deep within the Earth. While in the Earth, the zeolite naturally forms with and absorbs other minerals and metals that are in the ground around it. Thus, the purity of the zeolite has to do with the amount of minerals and metals that are absorbed into the zeolite cage before it is mined. The larger the amount of metals and minerals in the ground, the lower the purity of the zeolite. The zeolite with the lowest purity rates are known to come from North America and Asia, so please make sure that your zeolite doesn’t come from these two continents!
Cleaning the Zeolite
The purity rate of zeolite health supplements also relates to whether or not it was cleaned. Cleaning the zeolite will increase the purity rate (e.g. from 89% to 96%). The cleaning process isn’t a patented process but it does need to be done in a manufacturing plant equipped with special machines that can perform this task. Cleaning zeolite is expensive and not required by any government regulations, so finding a company that is willing to invest this money and time into their products is rare. Remember, the higher the purity, the more potent the zeolite will be.
Micronizing the Zeolite
Again, this is another time consuming and costly process that most zeolite health supplement companies do not want to invest in. Micronizing is when lasers are used to slice the zeolite into smaller pieces. Micronizing zeolite greatly reduces the particle size of the zeolite, while also keeping its structure intact. Most companies that do not want to pay for this expensive process simply grind up the zeolite through a process called milling. Milling zeolite can be potentially dangerous because it destroys the important zeolite structure, and breaks it into smaller pieces that do not detox and can be potentially harmful if ingested.
Furthermore, detoxing with micronized zeolite will give you a deeper detox. There is a significant difference between the particle size of micronized zeolite and non-micronized zeolite. Micronized zeolite is small enough to travel deep into the body’s tissues and between cells, while non-micronized zeolite often cannot make it this far. As for the size of the micronized zeolite particle, it should not be a nanoparticle because then it will be too small to trap the toxins inside its cage.
Where the Product is Manufactured
This is a very important aspect of determining a good supplement. All health supplements should be manufactured and packaged in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Certified pharmaceutical facility. These are the manufacturing plants that are in compliance with FDA regulations, and manufacture products to the highest standard. As of 2010, all health supplements sold in the US are required to be manufactured in a GMP Certified facility, so make sure the zeolite product you choose is manufactured in a GMP approved plant.
Amount of Zeolite per Dose
The amount of zeolite per dose can have a big effect on just how much you are detoxing. Liquids (which I don’t really recommend) are powdered zeolite suspended in a liquid solution and are mostly water that contains a minuscule amount of zeolite per dose. On the other hand, a powder or capsule zeolite product can contain anywhere from 1 to almost 6 grams of zeolite per dose. In a number of studies focusing on health and healing benefits of zeolite, it is suggested that at least 3 to 5 grams of zeolite is consumed per day in order for it to have a therapeutic effect.
The Quality of Additional Ingredients
Many zeolite health products will have more than just zeolite in them. Not only is the quality, purity, and potency of the zeolite important, but it is equally important for any additional ingredients. Zeolite is useful for a number of ailments and health benefits. Some companies add additional ingredients to their products in order to gear their zeolite supplements towards a particular malady. Make sure that whatever ingredient is added to the zeolite product has some validity in what it claims to do or help, and that it is a high quality ingredient. Also, make sure that all the ingredients in each product are on the FDA’s Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) list.
Knowledgeable Company Employees
The best way to understand the products you are looking to purchase is by calling the company. You can easily tell by speaking to the company’s employees for less than 2 minutes how much they know and how good the product is. A reliable company that cares about their customers’ health and well-being takes the time to educate their employees, who can then inform the customers about any questions or concerns they may have on zeolite and their products.
Investigate the Company’s Track Record
Does the company have a good reputation? How long have they been in the zeolite industry? Do they have repeat customers? What do their customers have to say about their products? These are all questions that should be looked into before you purchase any products. The zeolite health supplement industry hasn’t been around for that long… Only for about the past 15 years, so you can find out a lot of what people have to say by just doing a simple search on the Internet. Decide which companies you can trust and which you cannot.
My Suggested Zeolite Company
ZEO Health is the original manufacturer of zeolite health supplements. They have an amazing track record, and are known to have the absolute purest and most potent micronized zeolite on the market, with about a 97% purity rate. (Most other popular zeolite companies are in the 60% range!) All their products are manufactured in a GMP certified facility, and all of the ingredients they use are on the FDA’s GRAS list. They only make powder and capsule zeolite health products, and have created dosages that allow consumers to get the minimum 3 to 5 grams of zeolite per dose, as suggest in the medical studies. The employees are always friendly, extremely knowledgeable on all aspects of zeolite supplementation, and are willing to always take the time to answer any questions you might have. How do I know all of this? I called and asked!
